about
This is a song about the current Housing Emergency that we are experiencing in not only Wales but many parts of the U.K.
Local and especially young people are being priced out of their communities, we are loosing not only physical things like schools and fire stations but also our culture and language, things which once gone can never be replaced.
Young people and families are being forced to leave to find homes and work , whole communities are being hollowed out and turned into ghost towns in the winter.
The Welsh Government so far has taken almost no action on these issues.
If you care about this please sign our Senedd petition to force the Welsh Government to take meaningful action.

Ifan and Martha struggle to make a living on their Smallholding called Tyddyn Y Gwin. Their children have had to move away to seek work and find themselves priced out of the area they grew up in, a sad and common reality in many parts of the U.K. at the moment.
lyrics
Tyddyn y Gwin - Robat Idris
Ifan a Martha yn byw ar adnoda’
A briwsion o bensiwn y Cwîn;
Llunia’ o’r hogia’ yn hiraeth ar walia’
Am echdoe yn Nhyddyn y Gwîn.
Cofio llawenydd yn gloywi parwydydd
Wrth fagu y cynta’ o’r tri;
Draw yn Virginia ma’ Gronwy yn dwrna
Yn gaeth yn y ‘Land of the Free’.
Tyner oedd Gwenno fel eira yn pluo,
Yn beraidd fel gwyddfid fin nos:
Syrjiyn ‘di gwr hi yn Surbiton, Surrey –
Hen lanc ydi Twmi Tŷ’n Rhos.
Alun ysmala, y cyw melyn ola’,
A’r dwaetha’ i ‘redig y Ffridd.
Pesgodd yn sgriptiwr, yn S-Pedwar-Sieciwr,
Yn Radyr, heb boeni am bridd.
Heddiw mi welai fory yn boddi,
Chwalwyd cartrefi dan donau y lli,
Fory mi welai'r Cymry yn codi,
Codi ei'n pennau, anadlu yn rhydd.
Morthwyl didostur ar einioes o lafur
Pan werthwyd i ŵr dros y ffîn.
Arian mewn waled mwy marwol na bwled
“Rose Cottage” ‘di Tyddyn y Gwîn.
Translation
Ifan and Martha are living on their resources and the crumbs of the Queens pension.
Pictures of the boys bring back a longing for days gone by in Tyddyn y Gwin.
Remembering the joy of those golden days, as they raised the first of the three.
Over in Virginia Gronwy is an attorney, a prisoner in the " Land of the free".
Tender was Gweno like feathers of snow, like a pearl, like snow in the moonlight.
Her husband is a surgeon in Surbiton, Surrey. Twmni Ty'n Rhos was just a boy from the past.
Funny little Alun the last yellow chick, and the last to leave.
Became a script writer for S4C, in Radyr without worrying about soil.
Today I see tomorrow drowning,
Homes are destroyed beneath the waves of the flood,
Tommorow I see our people lifting,
Lifting our heads and breathing freely.
A ruthless hammer over a lifetime of labour,
When sold to the man from away,
Money in a wallet more fatal than a bullet,

Lyrics/ Geiriau - Robat Idris
Catrin O'Neill grew up by the sea in Aberdyfi, in Snowdonia, surrounded by a wealth of traditional Welsh music and culture.
Her Nain, was one of the first to introduce her to the magic of traditional folk songs, often sung in the kitchen beside the warm Aga with a cup of tea in hand.
It is her humour and ability to tell a story, that really set her aside from other folk singers....more
